Sports Report Trinity – Week 5

Fixtures: 15th-21st May

Cricket

MCS won 5 of the 8 matches vs Bloxham on Saturday. The 1st XI won by 144 runs, with Rayaan Dogar top scoring and Ben McGuinness taking wickets.

The 2nd XI - Tom Dawson (60 not out) Jimmy Ward (34not out) steadied the ship after the loss of early wickets and steered the team to a 7 wicket win.

The 3rds played their first game of the season, finishing second on the day.

The 15B’s took their game to the last over, despite only having 10 players and fell just short in a very tight encounter. Sammy Parker in the runs again with 47.

The 14A’s won comfortably in the end, in a strong team performance. The B’s had a batting performance to forget, unfortunately.

The 13A’s won a nail biter in the last over- largely thanks to a half century from Raffy Gibbons and an outstanding final over from Swarish Pulimi.

Dylan Parkinson’s stole the headlines in the 12A’s, scoring 85 not out, before the bowlers dismissed the opposition for 17 runs.

The U12 B’s performed brilliantly in their first game of the season, but were a little light of runs.

This week sees the 1st XI travel to Bradfield for round 3 of the National T30 Cup and the. The U12’s and U14’s are also in action against Wheatley Oark and Burford respectively.

Tennis:

It was a busy week of tennis fixtures, with midweek matches against New College, Downe House and D’Overbroeck’s, a block against Abingdon on Saturday and the Radley Prep School Festival on Sunday.

The midweek results saw comprehensive wins for the U12As and U13As against New College and the U15Bs against D’Overbroeck’s. Unfortunately, the Senior Girls lost 8-1 to a strong Downe House side on Wednesday.

On Saturday there was a big block against local rivals Abingdon which eventually went our way, 4-3, with the results as follows:

Senior 1sts lost 5-4

Senior 2nds lost 6-3

Senior 3rds won 5-4

U14A lost 8-1

U14B won 6-3

U14C won 8-1

U13A/U12A combined won 6-0

On Sunday, the U13As and U11As took to the court at Radley College in their Prep Schools Festival. A fantastic day of tennis was had by all with the U13’s finishing 5th out of 7 and the U11’s finishing 4th out of 7.

A big block against Stowe finishes the half term, with midweek fixtures against Radley College and St Edwards in the National Cup also in the diary this week.
