Dear Parents,

This week brings some excitement of the return of rugby! We will be offering all pupils the chance to play varying formats of the game as they will learn in your Games lesson this week. Our first Saturday is this weekend (11th September), which is also our ‘MCS Rugby Club Day’.

All Lower School pupils are encouraged to come in and play some touch rugby, before a hot dog and the opportunity to watch some of the 1st XV play on School Field. This is an optional session, but all pupils are welcome. I will be welcoming new parents in the Studio with an introduction to the rugby programme and what we offer at MCS, before parents can head down to watch the boys play, should they wish. There is no need to sign pupils up for this session, simply turn up and play. Parking is available, but limited on a first come, first served basis in the Main School Car Park. Alternative parking is available at St Clements Pay and Display (OX4 1AR).

Timings: 9.45am-12pm – All Lower School pupils welcome

9.45 - Parents drop off pupils (in Games kit, boots are required, but no mouthguard), who will be escorted to Merton Playing Fields (pupils to meet outside the Sports Hall)

10.00 - Parents welcomed to the Studio for an introduction to rugby with Mr Awcock (Head of Rugby) and Mr Dupée (Head of Sport), tea & coffee available for parents

10.30 - Touch Rugby Games begin on Merton. Parents welcome to watch after introduction to Rugby at MCS

11.40 - Pupils head back to School Field for after match tea

12.00 - 1st XV Kick Off vs Gordon’s School on School Field. Parents to collect pupils from School Field. U14A and U15A fixtures will also be taking place on Christ Church Fields at 12.00

Yours sincerely,

Mr Awcock
