Sports Report – Week 10

What a competition! The final round of the MCS Six Nations Championship took place on Saturday. Once again over 350 pupils graced the playing fields of Christ Church, Merton and School Field; rated as the ‘best display of rugby across all weekends’ by Mr Ford.

Playoff places were at stake during the final round of the tournament, meaning that all nations had something to play for before one final match to decide final standings.

Thank you to every pupil that has taken part playing for their adopted nation this half term!

Thanks must also be given to the staff members who have managed to referee 108 fixtures across all age groups, without making an incorrect decision between them…

The overall year group winners were:

U12s – England & France: Joint Winners, after a 4-4 draw in the final

U13s – Scotland, beating Italy 6-5 in the final

U14s – Italy, beating France 4-2 in the final

U15s – Italy, beating France 6-5 in the final

U16s – England, beating Italy 3-2 with a golden try!

Seniors – Wales, beating Scotland 8-5 in the final

Player of the week – Tom Dawson (U14) who played consistently well for Italy in helping them win their age group final.

Play of the day – In the U12 final, a last minute kick to the corner saw Jacob Iliffe catch and score for England to level the game at 4-4 and tie the fixture.
